If the domain name holder no longer exist

Domain names which are not linked to a valid organization number may be deleted. You can avoid deletion by contacting a registrar, who will help you to transfer the domain name to a new organization.

You receive a notice

If the organization number corresponding to the original registration of the domain name is no longer in existence at the Brønnøysund Register Centre (Enhetsregisteret), you will receive a notice from Norid. The notice informs you that the organization number no longer exists, and that the requirement for holding a .no domain name has thus not been fulfilled.

The domain name may be deleted

The notice gives you a time limit of 60 days to transfer the domain name. Domain names that are not transferred to a valid organization number by the deadline are deleted from the database and become available for new registration. This means that anyone may register the name and start using it.

How to prevent deletion of your domain name

If you still want to keep the domain name registration, you need to contact a registrar, who will help you to transfer the domain name to an organization with a valid organization number.
