Norid is to be established as a separate limited-liability company

On the 21st of February the general meeting in UNINETT FAS AS decided to separate Norid as its own limited-liability company in the UNINETT Group. This is consistent with the conclusions drawn from an official hearing in this regard and is the result of a long process.

For Norid this change opens up for a Board with representation from the industry as well as the research- and educational sector. This will in a larger degree reflect that we administer a task on behalf of the whole internet community in Norway. The reorganisation will also give more freedom to develop strategies in relation to the many costumer groups which Norid serves. At the same time the professional and technical relationship to UNINETT is maintained to secure a best possible standard and development of the services.

The process of establishing Norid as a separated company is scheduled to be completed in June. Only then can the contracts be transferred and the new account number be put to use. We will distribute further information when we know the exact time for the separation.

We hope to continue the good co-operation in the new company.
