Changes in the domain name policy 3. january 2003

Change of paragraph 10.1

Old wording:
10.1 Any application for transfer must be accompanied by the written approval of the owner. The organization designated by the owner for a transfer of the domain name must satisfy the applicant requirements for a new application.

New wording:
10.1 Any application for transfer must be accompanied by the written approval of the owner. The organization designated by the owner for a transfer of the domain name must satisfy the applicant requirements for a new application. A domain name may be transferred without the written approval of the owner if there is a final judgment regarding the transfer of the domain to another organization and this organization satisfies the requirements for a new applicant.

Change of appendix A

Due to the combining of two municipal communities into one, the following name is added to the list of reserved/forbidden domain names:

This change will be enforced from the date when notice of the change is given, the 16th of December 2002 and will be included in the domain name policy from the 3rd of January 2003. Addition of new domain names on the reserved/forbidden domain names list will not include removal of domain names that has already been registered before they were forbidden although these names may not be registered again if they are removed. A transfer of such a name is treated as an attempt to register the name anew.

Change of Appendix B

Due to the combining of two municipal communities into one, the following names are removed from the geographic name tree:
ramnes.no
vale.no

There is currently no registrations of third level domains under these domains. The domains will remain on the reserved/forbidden list.

Neither Svalbard nor Jan Mayen are municipal communites or counties. To identify clearly who is the local organization that may register www.svalbard.no and www.jan-mayen.no the following is added under "Who may apply?" in Appendix B:

• The third level domain www.community.no can only be registered by the governor of Svalbard
• The third level domain www.jan-mayen.no can only be registered by the county governor of Nordland

Change of Appendix E

Official committees are allowed to register domains under .no

The following paragraph is added to Appendix E

Official committees are considered independent organizations who may register domain names under .no, although they do not belong to the organisation types listed above. The organization is still required to give an organization number and a written approval from the relevant governmental authority stating that this organization has status as a official committee.
