Charges and billing routinesFor each domain name, a registration fee and an annual fee are payable. The registrar receives a combined invoice from Norid for all the domain names for which he is responsible. The registrar must then invoice each domain name holder. For the domain name holderAll domains under .no must be actively renewed every year. For domains that are not renewed by a registrar, the legal contact for the domain is notified by e-mail that he must find a registrar who can renew the subscription within 60 days. After this deadline, the domain is deleted. Norid is not responsible if the registrar does not renew a domain name (even though the holder has paid the registrar), and the domain will be deleted. If the domain has been transferred from one holder to another, the renewal date will be based on the original date of registration. For the registrarFee and deposit for new registrarsNew registrars must pay a fee of NOK 5,000 to cover costs associated with establishment and further administration of the registrar agreement. In addition, Norid must have a deposit of at least NOK 10,000 as security to cover possible breach of contract. The deposit regulates the number of domains a registrar can register or renew each month. If you as a registrar want to be able to register or renew more names, you can increase the quota by increasing the deposit. When the money has been paid, we send a paper-based agreement document for signature. During one year a registrar must either register at least 40 domains or be a registrar for at least 40 domains. Registration feeThis is a one-time fee which covers our costs in connection with the domain application. In addition, registrars charge a fee for their work with the application and for getting the domain technically operational. A registrar is free to price his services, which means that the amount domain applicants pay will vary. The registration fee paid to Norid is NOK 60. Annual feeThe annual fee is a subscription fee which covers our running costs in connection with quality assurance, maintenance and development of the domain service. The fee is billed to the registrar who renewed the domain subscription on behalf of the holder. Most registrars will also charge for their work in connection with maintenance of registered information associated with the domain. A registrar is free to price his services, which means that the amount domain name holders pay will vary. The annual fee paid to Norid is NOK 60. The annual fee for the first year is covered by the registration fee. The registrar notifies which domains he wants to renew in advance. Domains which are not renewed by a registrar, will after several notifications be deleted. An overview of received and paid invoices, can be found on the registrar web. Payment termsNew registrations are billed monthly in arrears. This means that the invoice for new domains will be sent at the start of the month after registration took place. The annual fee is payable in advance every year. It is billed during the same month that the domain was originally registered. Both fees have payment terms of 30 days. Steps to be taken if invoices are not paid are described in the agreement with the individual registrar. Two months notice is given for changes in prices. |
