Domain name policy for .no
Appendix C: Category second-level domains managed by Norid
These are the additional rules applicable to registration of a domain
name within fhs.no, vgs.no, gs.[fylke].no,
fylkesbibl.no, folkebibl.no, museum.no,
idrett.no, uenorge.no og priv.no. All rules specified in the main document
also apply to these domains unless otherwise indicated.
The aim of these domains is to enable Norway's schools, libraries,
museums, sports clubs, youth businesses and private individuals to
register domain names within a predictable structure.
Who can apply?
The applicant must represent an institustion of the relevant type:
- fhs.no: folkehøskoler [colleges which do not offer a formal education] in Norway
- vgs.no: upper secondary schools in Norway
- gs.[fylke].no: primary and lower secondary schools in Norway
- fylkesbibl.no: county libraries in Norway
- folkebibl.no: public libraries in Norway
- museum.no: museums in Norway
- idrett.no: sports clubs
In addition to the organization types listed in appendix E, subunits (organization type
BEDR) are permitted to apply within these category domains.
uenorge.no: The applicant must be a Youth Business
(Ungdomsbedrift) or a Student Business (Studentbedrift), and must be a
part of Ungt Entrepenørskap's teaching plan for high school or
college education. The organization number must be one of the numbers
assigned to Ungt Entrepenørskap by the Brønnøysund
Register Centre for the purpose of the teaching plan.
Domains registered within uenorge.no will be automatically
deleted during the summer holidays following the school year during
which the domain name was registered. Norid will notify the domain name
holder 1 month before the deletion takes place.
priv.no: The applicant must be a private individual
registered in the Norway's National Register (Folkeregisteret) with a
Norwegian national identity number (fødselsnummer) and status
resident in Norway. The applicant must be 18 or older and have a
Norwegian postal address.
A change of status in the National Register to 'emigrant' will not in itself
trigger the deletion of someone's domain names, but they will no longer be permitted
to register new domains.
The obligation to cover the complaint fee upon losing a dispute will
not be asserted towards priv.no holders.
