Norid registry system upgrade 2012-01-31
Norid will upgrade its registry system Tuesday 31 January from 09:00 to
10:00 local time. The upgrade will add support for the newly announced
procedures for paper-less domain deletion and holder change.
The most significant changes to the system are:
- Support for domain delete and domain transfer commands without
accompanying paperwork.
- The time when domains are automatically renewed, and possibly
processes for the phasing out of non-renewed domains are
started, will be moved forward one day (24 hours). This will
reduce the length of time a domain will exist as
non-autorenewed past its expiry date.
- Allow use of secondary e-mail addresses in transfer-init commands.
- Change ticket processing so that DNS checks are only run once
per ticket, even if the ticket is paused for manual consideration.
- Changes to the registrar web
- Updates to the registrar technical contact shall no longer
affect the postal address information for the legal or
billing contacts.
- Add support for per-registrars lists of domains that no
longer have a valid registrant.
- All daily whois dumps should now use correct character sets.
- Add the registrant handle to the domain listing
- The whois server again shows the organization affiliations for
person lookups.
- A selection of minor changes to various e-mail messages and
letter texts.
