The new registrar agreement has been sent

The revision of the registrar agreement is finished, and the new contracts were mailed yesterday. We would like to thank the registrar organization Dot-Enno for taking the time to read through the agreement before it was sent tot he printers.

New contracts

Two copies of the registrar agreement have been mailed to all current .no registrars. The addresses used are those you have registered in the registrar web. To avoid interruptions to the registrar services, please fill in and sign both copies, and return them to us by 24 March 2012.

Those who have not returned the new agreements within the deadline, will receive a notice of termination, according to clause 6. in the current agreement:

In the case of significant amendments which include all the registrar agreements, Norid sends a written enquiry about acceptance of the amendment to all the registrars. Registrars who do not accept the new conditions will be given notice of termination. The registrar can in this case withdraw from the registrar relationship with immediate effect, but may require that the agreement remains in effect for up to 6 months from the date that the written enquiry was sent before the old contractual relationship comes to an end.

We will process the agreements as they arrive. As soon as we have received your two copies and checked that they have been properly filled in and signed, this will be noted in our system and you will receive a confirmation by email.

You may not use other versions of the registrar agreement than the two original copies sent from Norid via the regular mail. The registrars that enter into the revised agreement will not be changed a new registrar fee.

New procedures for deleting domains and change of holders

The agreement goes into effect on 1 February, co-inciding with a change in the domain name policy. This change removes the requirement for written consent when ordering a deletion of a domain or a change of holder. In a transitional period we will therefore have two parallell procedures for both operations:

1. Registrars that have signed the new agreements: Starting 1 February, deletions and holder changes will be processed automatically. You should no longer send declarations of deletion or holder changes to Norid.

2. Registrars that have not signed the new agreements: The current procedures for deletions and holder changes apply. These transactions will be handled manually by Norid until the registrar relationship has been terminated, or a new set of agreements are signed.

Important dates

• 24 January: The new registrar agreements were sent via regular mail to the registrars.
• 1 February: New contract and new procedures apply to those registrars that have entered into the new agreement.
• 24 March: Deadline for signing and returning the new agreement.
