Development freeze

We are close to the end of the development of the new registry system. During the course of the development we have received comments and input from you, especially early in the process (two workshops in 2007 and the registrar seminar in 2008), and we have made changes and adjustments based on your input.

According to good development practice, we have set a final date for suggesting changes, and a final date for implementing changes:

1 June: Last chance to make suggestions for adjustments to the systems. After this date, all requests and suggestions will be put aside until the new registry system is in a state of stable operations. Reported bugs will be checked and fixed continuously.

1 August: After this date we will no longer make any changes to the systems beyond regular bugfixing.

The main reason for setting freeze dates is to ensure that you will not have to deal with changes to the functionality of the systems during the last two months before it goes into production.

The XML schemas and the system core have been accessible for a long time, and registrars have developed their own software based on these specifications. It follows that we will require very good reasons to change these now. Other parts of the system, like the EPP web client, the registrar web and the whois and DAS services, are easier to make changes to. You can send your comments and suggestions to info@norid.no within 1 June.
